ICO fines East Lincolnshire Council £80,000 for losing sensitive data [itpro.co.uk]
The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has fined East Lincolnshire Council £80,000 for losing data about 286 children in the area with special educational needs.
The council lost a data key containing the unencrypted information in July 2011 when the device was left in a teacher’s laptop computer. When the teacher returned to the computer, the data key was missing.
